We all know that end-of-year feeling; a kind of hustle and bustle that is very often overwhelming! Non-stop shopping and preparing and travelling. Tying up work commitments so they don’t follow you into the next cycle. Enough christmas parties to give you a month-long hangover. And, at times, all this can lead to a feeling of exhaustion that requires a holiday from the one you are meant to be having! For me, this time of year is a beautiful moment, to be shared with friends and family, but the new year brings something else altogether, something special. A time to reflect on my life and choices, a time to move forward, a time to start again.
I often share my life experiences and motivations with my followers, friends and clients. As time goes on, the more I appreciate the reasons behind why we do the things we do: I think that knowing why you want to do something shines light on the way forward. For me, bees have become so much more than an animal, an interest or a job. They have become a living thing that connects me to my best friends from all over the world. They give me a wonderful reason to wake up very early and embrace the day. They show me how important it is to care for nature and its elements, so that the environment can thrive, and the world stays a healthy home for our children. The bees have given me a career motivation that is outside of myself.
As I move into 2019, I think about how I want the world to be, and I am happy that the choices I have made are contributing to that vision. One of the greatest lessons I have learnt is that no matter what happens to you the most important thing is how you respond. Life dishes out some blows. But the new year is the perfect time to remember to keep challenging yourself, to dig deep, and to look for your motivations. Once you see why you want to do certain things, and what is important to you, moving forward and making the best of all your life situations is easy!
As I always say, take on every day with a smile and a sense of good will. Look after the people and the planet and nothing you want to achieve is impossible. We only have to look to the bees to see a great example of this! How amazing is it that such tiny creatures function in such an intelligent manner so that they can get huge work done, and save the planet at the same time! Now despite them being unaware of their huge contribution, we don’t need to be. Put your best foot forward, lead with your heart and your most sincere motivations, take up new challenges every day and be humble when things don’t go exactly to plan. 2019 is a great place to be and I look forward to sharing it with you all!
