Keep Calm with Ben’s Bees Manuka Body Butter
Each day offers new challenges, both physical and mental. With a demanding and energetic occupation, I try to take the time to look after my body and my mind in the best way possible. You have probably all heard of the benefits of wellness by now, but for those who haven’t, wellness is an active process of being aware of the choices you are making, doing what you can to live a healthy and fulfilling life. The World Health Organisation defines it as not merely the absence of illness of disease, but “a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being”. In this way it is a dynamic process of change and of growth that you can start today if you choose.
To be honest with you, I didn’t always know this. As a self-confessed workaholic (like many Australians I know) I have to make a conscious effort to take the time to unwind and rejuvenate; running at full speed 100% of the time can really have its downfalls. As time goes on, I see how the mind and the body really are at one with each other, and you need to look after both in order to have a happy and healthy life. This has included some fundamental changes to my lifestyle: I get to sleep pretty early each night because I know that tomorrow will be full of practical and often unexpected tasks that require lots of energy; I eat wholesome meals that I make myself in the kitchen using local produce—organic wherever possible—and vegetables grown in my own backyard; I take time to relax with my kids and go on little getaways whenever I can.
But my skin is something I have not always looked after. As a professional bee keeper and bee removalist, I experience all kinds of crazy environments, pollutants, weather, dirt, grime, and the occasional bee sting! This hard yakka can wreak havoc on my skin. And since I have observed similar skin concerns among many Australians who love the outdoors and often put their body through the paces, I decided to make a product that could give your body some well-earnt relief! Looking after your skin is a practical process that repairs the body but taking the time to do this also has a therapeutic element. Just actively tending to your body is great for slowing down and relieving stress.
Ben’s Bees Manuka Body Balm is a rich but light moisturising balm made especially to sooth, protect, moisturise and rejuvenate. It is suitable for use as an intense dry skin treatment or on a daily basis. Chemicals, medical conditions, age, pollutants, household cleaners, dirt, weather and other environmental irritants all cause havoc for our skin, and with the winter months fast approaching, the effect of cold weather only adds to this list—at this time, a lack of moisture in the air can cause skin to dry, crack and flake.
Ben’s Bees Manuka Honey Body Balm is packed full of the ingredients that tired bodies are craving. It can be used all over the body, face, hands and feet. It contains Vitamin E-rich sunflower oil and moisturising shea butter. This formula is designed by me, to help moisturise and protect your body, leaving the skin feeling soft and supple. The unique addition of manuka honey adds a natural scent and an antibacterial and antioxidant quality to this balm, helping heal wounds and fight off free radicals. Ben’s Bees Manuka Honey Body Balm can be applied throughout the day or at night before bed to help relieve the symptoms of hard yakka and the elements. Personally, I love to slather it on after a warm shower before bed. In the morning, this beekeeper can face the day with soft skin, knowing he has taken the time to look after both his body and mind through this simple ritual.
