Australian Beeswax Tealight Candles 12 Pack

Ben’s Bees Australian beeswax tealight candles are made with pure beeswax from Victorian bees. Due to the natural composition of beeswax, these sweet-smelling beeswax tealight candles may have slight variations in colour and scent between batches. They burn for around 3 hours. Non-toxic and unbleached.

(Please note these do not fit the poplar wood candles)

Why beeswax tealight candles?

Beeswax candles are naturally beneficial.

Although many different types of waxes exist, they can all be broken down into three categories: waxes derived from animals, waxes derived from plants, and those that are petroleum-based.

The most common and important plant wax is carnauba wax, a relatively hard substance obtained from a Brazilian palm tree. This is used extensively in confectionery, as a coating for foods and pharmaceuticals, and as a polish or waterproofing agent. It’s the principal ingredient in surfboard wax.

Soy wax is cheap to produce and is commonly used in candle making. However, soy wax is often produced from genetically modified crops and is subjected to various chemical sprays. Fungicides and pesticides may ultimately end up in the finished product, so theoretically, you could burn these toxins in your home!

Paraffin wax is the most widespread form of petroleum-based wax. It was first created in the 1800s and is economical to produce, with a slight bluish-white colouration. Paraffin wax can also be used to make cheap candles, as well as products such as baking paper and as a lubricant for bullets.

Most people are unaware that every single paraffin wax candle contains at least seven documented toxins – two of which are carcinogenic when burnt. The soot and fumes released by burning paraffin wax are similar to those produced by a diesel engine and will fill your home with toxic chemicals that can be as dangerous as second-hand cigarette smoke.

Lanolin, also referred to as ‘wool wax’ or ‘wool grease’, is a wax secreted by the sebaceous glands of wool-bearing animals, typically sheep. It’s a common ingredient in cosmetics and some lubricants and polishes.

There’s no doubt that beeswax is an important wax sourced from animals, with a long and rich history of human usage.

Although relatively expensive, beeswax candles quickly gained popularity since cheaper ones made from tallow or animal fat did not burn well and created an unpleasant smell. In fact, beeswax candles were once required exclusively by the Roman Catholic Church.

Beeswax releases negative ions as it burns. Pollen, dust, dirt and other pollutants carry a positive charge, allowing them to remain suspended in the air.

The negative ions that emanate from burning beeswax neutralise the positive charge on airborne contaminants and pollutants, causing them to be sucked back into the burning candle or fall to the ground and consequently assist in detoxifying the air. Many air purifiers and water filters utilise this negative ion technology.

So, when it comes to burning candles at home, the choice is clear. Spend a few extra dollars and buy nothing but pure beeswax candles. We know you’ll love these beeswax tealight candles – and with express shipping, you’ll be enjoying their sweet smell in no time!

    Gorgeous candles!

I’ve been searching for beeswax candles because they’re a much healthier alternative than the cheap ones in supermarkets and such. I got 2 packs of these and they’re super gorgeous! I absolutely adore the sweet honey smell they have to them, it’s addictive haha. Thankyou so much, definitely very happy ❤️
